About Canadian Baptist Seminary

cbs student CBS is a founding member of the Associated Canadian Theological Seminaries (ACTS) located on the campus of Trinity Western University in British Columbia.

This unique consortium, consisting of 4 denominations, has provided over 25 years of proven commitment to theological study and practical training for ministry. CBS offers over a dozen accredited, graduate degrees, diplomas and certificates in partnership with ACTS.

CBS is committed to serving the local church.

We equip pastors, counsellors, church planters, Bible translators and other ministry personnel. CBS offers valuable resources to pastors and church leaders. Faculty and staff provide practical seminars, workshops, and preaching assignments.

CBS programs remain accessible to all. Students from all denominations and cultures study with faculty from China, Singapore, Africa, USA and Canada. We are accredited by Associated Theological Schools (ATS).

CBS Faculty & Staff

Richard Ang, LL.B Hons, Dip CS, MCS, MA

Acting President and former chair of the board of regents for CBS. Richard serves as an Associate Pastor of Discipleship & Pastoral Care at Calvary Baptist Church, Coquitlam, B.C.

Daryl Busby, Ph.D.

Associate Professor of Education and Leadership Studies. Daryl is an instructor at ACTS, where he teaches church ministries and leadership with special expertise in adult learning theories. He has extensive lead pastor and transitional pastor experience.

Wendell Phillips, D.Min.

Chief Financial Officer. Previously Wendell served as pastor in various Vancouver congregations.

Cal Netterfield, D.Min.

Director of Development and adjunct professor of Baptist Studies. Cal served as Lead Pastor of Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Surrey and also as District Minister in Alberta with the Baptist General Conference of Canada. He teaches in the area of Baptist History and Theology.

Timothy Ngai, Ph.D.

Associate Professor of Marriage and Family Therapy. Tim began the Marriage and Family Therapy graduate program at Alliance Biblical Seminary in Hong Kong. His teaching expertise also covers a wide range of courses in the field with special emphasis upon counselling theories.

Dr. Bernard Mukwavi, D.Min

Adjunct professor of Multi-cultural studies. Bernard served as pastor and missionary on three different continents - Africa, Europe and North America. He has been extensively involved in church plants, youth ministry, and Bible Schools.

In 1997, Bernard moved to Regina, Saskatchewan where he served on staff at Harvest City Church and taught at "Into His Harvest Training School (IHH)". In 2006, He later moved to British Columbia to serve as the Senior Pastor of Fleetwood International Church in Surrey. He now serves as the District Minister for the Baptist General Conference of Canada.
